2017 Chardonnay | Bacigalupi Vineyard LIBRARY
This wine is noted for its delicate flavor with soft, rounded edges on the palate. It is also noted for its heritage. The grapes for this wine come from the bud wood of the vines that shocked the world in 1976 when a Chateau Montelena Chardonnay made with Bacigalupi grapes won the infamous “Judgment of Paris” wine tasting in 1976. It was the first time that a California Chardonnay had been judged as the world's best. And the quality has persisted all these decades later. This wine features floral aromatics with hints of vanilla. Aging in French Oak lends a subtle sweetness but is done with a light touch so as not to overwhelm the varietal characteristics of the wine. This wine is the perfect counterpoint to our Petersen Chardonnay, which is aged entirely in stainless steel.
