2019 Chardonnay | Bacigalupi Vineyard
Made from the budwood of the vines that produced the California Chardonnay that rocked the industry by winning the infamous “Judgment of Paris” wine tasting in 1976, this is our third vintage of the Bacigalupi Chardonnay with this notable heritage.
Featuring notes of vanilla and warm bright citrus fruit, it creates significant weight on the palate, with medium to high viscosity.
The acid is bright with hints of baking spices and vanilla as well, which shines through from the barrels.
This vintage was picked over two different days, which is unusual since this vintage was grown in two separate vineyards and was made from a combination of both young vines and older vines. In addition, it also features a mix of ripe and slightly mature fruit. Putting this all together creates a bright, acid forward wine.
This chardonnay has a great richness and is very refreshing and unique. One of the few Chardonnays built to age, this wine can age over the next 5-10 years—or even longer.
